Acne Q & A

What is acne?

Acne is a common skin condition that is generally harmless but can have a serious impact on your self-esteem. You may have assumed that your days of pimply breakouts ended after puberty, but the condition is becoming increasingly common in adults, too.

Each of the pores in your skin is connected to an oil gland. The oil from these glands pushes dead skin cells to your skin’s surface. These factors can kickstart or worsen a case of acne:

How is acne treated?

There are many treatments available for acne, but not everything will work for your skin type. After assessing your skin, your dermatologist at SCN Dermatology prescribes or recommends one or more of these treatments:

These factors can kickstart or worsen a case of acne:

If one treatment doesn’t work for you, another will. You may have to try several treatments before you find one that’s effective on your skin.

If keeping your face clean isn’t keeping your acne away (which it often doesn’t), call SCN Dermatology or book an appointment online for expert acne treatment today.
